This course can be taken by drivers who have received a citation for using a wireless communication device while driving in a school or work zone.

First time offenders may voluntarily elect to take this course with the clerk of court. You must also inform the clerk of court of the county the citation was issued in if you are electing to take this course. Upon completion of the course, the penalties and costs associated with the infraction may be waived by the clerk of the court and the assessment of points must be waived. A driver may elect to take this course only once.
A subsequent texting while driving conviction would be treated as a moving violation thus allowing the election of a Basic Driver Improvement course.
The points on your license will not be removed though if you take this course after being pulled over for using a handheld device twice within 5 years. Section 316.306 of Florida Statutes only allows this course to remove points and waive fines for first offenders who are issued a citation for using a handheld device in a non-hands-free manner while driving in a work or school zone.
The Basics:

- The final exam in this course contains 20 multiple-choice questions. 16 need to be answered correctly to pass. There is unlimited attempts at the final exam, but every time the exam is taken, the questions will be different.
- Download your certificate and submit it to the Clerk of Courts for the county that issued your citation.
