Texas Parent-Taught In-Car Course

All first-time drivers in Texas under the age of 18 are required to complete a state-approved behind-the-wheel course that consists of 14 hours of in-car training. This course is intended only for students who completed their classroom hours with a school outside of the Parent-Taught program.

NOTE: This does not replace the 24 hours of classroom instruction that are required to obtain a Texas provisional license. If you haven't completed your classroom hours yet, you can click here to view our Parent-Taught Driver's Ed Course, which includes the In-Car only course as well as the state DPS Permit Test.

Easy-to-follow instructions are provided for parents, showing exactly what needs to be done during behind-the-wheel training.

This course has been authorized by the State of Texas and can be taken 100% online without any hassles. License #C3042

The Basics:

  • You must be between the ages of 15 and 17 years old to take this course.
