Texas 24-hour Self-Taught Drivers Ed Course

All first-time drivers in Texas under the age of 18 are required to complete a state-approved, 24-hour Driver Education Course to apply for a Texas Learner Permit and Driver License.

NOTE: This course contains the online classroom instruction only. It does not contain behind-the-wheel instruction. For the Texas Parent-Taught course, CLICK HERE.

 

This course has been authorized by the State of Texas and can be taken 100% online without any hassles. License #C3042

The Basics:

  • This course is 24 hours in length
  • You must be between the ages of 14 and 17 years old to take this course.
  • You must be at least 15 years old before you can visit your local DPS and apply for your Learner Permit.
  • This course is for first-time drivers whose parents will not be teaching the Laboratory 7 hours Behind-the-Wheel Instruction and 7 hours In-Car Observation training.
  • This course includes the DPS Permit Test.
  • This course uses the concurrent method of instruction. This means you can get your permit after the first 6 hours of the course and completing the DPS Permit Test.

 

NOTE: Instead of getting your permit after completing the DPS Permit Test, you can instead complete all 24 hours of the course, and then apply for your learner permit if you choose.

If you choose to do this, you can contact us to mark your certificate as block method before you visit the DPS Office to get your permit.

 

Fees:

We charge NO additional fees for our course. However, you will have to pay a fee at the DPS Office when you get your learner permit and driver license.
