NH Grass Drags and Watercross

NH Grass Drags and Watercross action

The NH Grass Drags and Watercross is a three-day powersports extravaganza held annually by the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association on Columbus Day weekend in October. Also known in the snowmobile world as “The Grass Drags” or “Epping,” the Race Into Winter Grass Drags and Watercross is the premiere event for snowmobile enthusiast and competitors.

Over 40,000 Attend NH Grass Drags and Watercross

The biggest, baddest snowmobile event in the world. Considered the start of New England’s snowmobile season, over 40,000 snowmobile and outdoor enthusiasts turn out each year to watch some of the fastest snowmobile racers from the United States and Canada. The event starts on Friday at 2pm and doesn’t end until 6pm Sunday at Brookvale Pines Farm, 152 Martin Road, Fremont, NH.

NH Grass Drags

Some of the fastest snowmobiles in the world compete at speeds topping 115 mph. If you have a favorite brand, chances are you will have something to cheer about. Friday’s grass drags features the amateur class, that run into the evening under the lights. The big guns come out Saturday and Sunday, with 0-60 times that would annihilate most supercars. Race classes can include: Stock, Improved Stock 600cc – 800cc, Improved Stock 1000cc, Pro Stock 600cc – 800cc, Pro Stock 1000, Pro Mod, Heavy Mod, Open Mod and the mighty 4-Stroke Turbos.

Race into Winter also features watercross racing, also known as water skipping. Yes, snowmobiles racing on water. NH snowmobile watercross competition includes straight line drag racing and the unique oval style racing on the pond at the center of the race facility. Hosted by the Eastern Watercross Association, race classes include 600,  800 and Amateur, Semi Pro and Pro. It’s fast, exciting, and yes, they do sink!

Rave-X Freestyle stunt show

Rave-X Freestyle

Race into Winter is more than just racing. The nationally known Rave-X Freestyle team performs Winter X Games style stunts throughout the weekend. Jumping snowmobiles from ramps at amazing heights. The Rave X team perform big air tricks, synchronized flips, heel clickers, superman, backflips and other gravity defying stunts. The performance can be scene from multiple areas on the race grounds but you may want to get to the stunt area early and get a good spot to shoot video.

Lawn Mower Racing

Lawn Mower Racing

The New England Lawn Mower Racing Association has side-by-side racing during the triple header weekend. The mowers race at speeds from 6 to 60 mph depending on track size and race class. Race classes include AP, SP, CP, BP, FX, IMOW and Jr. IMOW.

Snowmobile Vendor Displays

More than 110 vendors display the latest in snowmobile technologies, clothing, accessories, travel opportunities and demos. NH Grass Drags and Watercross feature Factory displays by the four major snowmobile and ATV manufacturers, Arctic Cat, Polaris, Ski-Doo and Yamaha feature their latest models and accessories.

A Volunteer-Driven Fundraiser

It may surprise you to learn that one of the biggest snowmobile events in the world is organized and executed by volunteers. It is the largest fundraiser for the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association and helps finance the efforts of the NHSA as well as over 100 participating clubs who maintain the trails you ride every winter. The NHSA is a 501c4 non-profit organization. We appreciate your support and hope to see you in October!
