What is the Purpose of the Texas Adult Driver Education Course?
This information below applies to:
Texas Adult Driver Education Course.
Is this course for you?
Are you going to apply for your driver license for the first time in Texas? Are you between the ages of 18 and 25? If so, our Texas Adult Driver Education Course is just what you need!
All first-time drivers in Texas who are under the age of 25 must complete a Driver Education Course before they can apply for their driver license. That makes sense; driver education courses set the foundation for safe driving. Since you’re new behind the wheel, at least to the Texas roadways, this course will give you all the information you need to be the most responsible driver possible. You’ll learn about traffic laws, safe driving tips, and what’s expected of you as a driver. The course will help you to remain alert and aware on the road. That means you’re less likely to get into accidents, which protects you, your loved ones, and other drivers on the road.
Who needs the Texas Adult Driver Education Course?
This course is designed for anyone between the ages of 18 and 25. If you are under 25 years of age, the state of Texas requires that you take a driver education course to apply for your license.
If you’re over 25, you aren’t required to take a driver education course. You can simply make an appointment to take your driving test at the local DPS office. Remember, this involves taking (and passing!) a written exam, as well as passing the behind-the-wheel test. For that reason, even many people who are over the age of 25 choose to take a driver education course, so that they can prepare for the exam and the test.
What does the Texas Adult Driver Education Course cover?
This course is six hours long, which is the minimum number of hours required by the state of Texas. Since our course is 100% online, those hours pass by quickly as you study in the comfort of your home or any other place you choose. And you can study for as long as you want or as little as you want in each session.
You will review essential Texas traffic laws, highway signs, and signals, and how alcohol and drug use affect a person's driving abilities. That way you’ll be prepared for many situations that come up on the road, and you’ll be able to react quickly and safely.
Additionally, you’ll review ways that you can be a defensive and responsible driver, and you’ll consider situations that can cause accidents. This course will help you see when taking risks could lead to disaster. And you’ll find out what contributes to the problem of road rage and how you can avoid it.
You’ll also learn practical driving skills that will keep you safe in a variety of driving situations. For instance, recognizing Texas traffic signs helps you be prepared to react quickly in any situation. Knowing the state traffic laws will help you obey them. And you’ll learn what to do when you have to face hazards on the road or emergencies.
Learning with this course is easy since the short chapters are easy to understand and include entertaining videos and animations. Study in your free time or whenever it’s convenient for you. You can stop wherever you want and come back to the course material easily – we’ll even save your place for you. That kind of flexibility means this course won’t interfere with your work or study schedule.
How does this Texas Adult Driver Education Course help you to get your driver license?
This course prepares you with all the information you need to be ready to apply for your license. At the end of the course, you will take – and pass! – the final exam. Since you’re over 18, you don’t have to take the behind-the-wheel training that is mandatory for younger drivers.
The state of Texas requires that you pass the Texas Department of Public Safety Road Signs and Road Rules written exam. That exam is included in this course, which means you don’t have to go to the DPS office to take it. At the end of this course, we provide you with a downloadable certificate of completion. You’ll need to take your Driver Education Course completion certificate with you when you apply for your license, so don’t leave it at home.
When you visit the DPS office, take your identification with you, your birth certificate, and proof of your Social Security Number and legal residency status. You’ll need to pay the application fee. Then comes the part of the exams: you’ll take a vision exam as well as the written exam. However, don’t worry about the test – by the time you finish our Texas Adult Driver Education Course, you’ll be well prepared to pass it.
After you pass it you’ll receive your driver license. Congratulations!
